Segovia

Segovia is the capital of the Province of Segovia in the autonomous community of Castile and León, Spain, located north of the capital, Madrid. Its name originates from the Celtiberian language and means "city of victory." It is a city rich in heritage, with the Old Town of Segovia and its Aqueduct listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The old town of Segovia is perched atop a narrow rocky ridge and boasts numerous historic landmarks, including the Cathedral, the Roman Aqueduct, the Alcázar of Segovia, and many Romanesque-style churches such as the Church of San Esteban, Church of San Martín, and Church of San Millán. The city walls surrounding the old town were built in the 8th century, possibly on Roman foundations, and were restored in the 21st century. The Aqueduct of Segovia is a Roman aqueduct ruin in the ancient city of Segovia and is the most magnificent and best-preserved Roman structure on the Iberian Peninsula. It is also the symbol of the city of Segovia and is featured on its coat of arms. The Cathedral of Segovia is a Gothic cathedral built in late medieval Spain during the 16th century. It is 50 meters wide, with its dome completed in the 17th century, and its bell tower reaches 88 meters, making it the tallest bell tower in Spain.
