The Vineyard Landscape of Piedmont encompasses five distinct wine-growing areas, along with renowned landscapes and Castles of the Cavour era—names that hold symbolic significance in the development of viticulture and Italian history. It was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014.

This landscape is situated in the southern part of Piedmont, between the Po River and the Ligurian Alps. During the Roman Empire, Pliny the Elder noted that Piedmont was one of the most favorable regions for grape cultivation, and Strabo also mentioned the oak barrels from the area. The winemaking tradition in this region dates back to pre-Roman times and spans over 10,000 hectares of land, including 29 municipalities, most of which are involved in wine production. This heritage site was recognized mainly for its historical and cultural significance in wine production, rural landscapes, historic architecture, and the relationship between humans and nature. It boasts a deeply rooted wine culture and an extraordinary landscape of vineyards and wine production.
