Bogotá is located on a fertile highland in the Andes Mountains and serves as the capital of Colombia and the capital city of Cundinamarca Department. It is the largest city in Colombia and one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in South America. As the political, economic, cultural, and tourism center of Colombia, Bogotá is an excellent travel destination.

Bogotá is known for its beautiful scenery, spring-like climate all year round, and numerous historical and cultural sites. It is rich in preserved heritage and is often referred to as the "Athens of South America." This historic city, with its distinctive South American character, houses many world-renowned landmarks. Ancient buildings such as universities, museums, observatories, and churches constructed in the 16th and 17th centuries remain well-preserved to this day. As a traditional and important center of art and culture in northern South America, Bogotá's old town features many historically, culturally, and touristically significant buildings and squares. The most famous among them is Bolívar Square, surrounded by public buildings, churches, and monasteries. Simon Bolivar Park is the largest urban park in the world, the Salt Cathedral is the world’s largest underground salt cathedral and one of the largest religious structures, and the Guatavita Lagoon is a must-visit site.

Bogotá is home to numerous museums. In addition to the Colombia National Museum and the Museum of Colonial Art, the Gold Museum, opened in 1938, is one of the city's most important museums. It houses the world's most significant collection of pre-Columbian gold artifacts, totaling 38,000 pieces. Another highlight is the Santa Clara Convent, which features lavish Baroque decorations including gilded altars, murals by local Baroque artists, and ceilings covered in gold leaf.
