Medellín is located in the northern part of the Andes Mountains in South America, within the department of Antioquia, and is the second-largest city in Colombia. The city serves as an important hub for universities, commerce, industry, and technology in Antioquia, as well as a hotspot for festivals and nightlife. Rock musician Juanes, a Latin Grammy Award winner, was born here.

In the 21st century, with the development of the Medellín Metro, the city has seen industrial growth, improved safety, and enhanced education, establishing it as a tourist destination. Situated at a high altitude and traversed by the Medellín River, which flows northward, the city enjoys a mild spring-like climate, earning it the nickname “City of Eternal Spring.” Medellín is home to over 40 museums, art galleries, and exhibition centers, making them a vibrant highlight of the city. The Museo de Antioquia is the most important museum in Medellín and one of the most renowned in Colombia. Other popular institutions include the Museum of Modern Art of Medellín, the Mineralogy Museum, the Medellín Planetarium, and the Medellín Art Museum.
