Cartagena is a port city located on the Caribbean coast of northwestern Colombia, serving as the capital of Bolívar Department and the second-largest city in Colombia. Founded in 1533, the city takes its name from a city in Spain. It boasts highly developed petrochemical and tourism industries.

Cartagena is an important port in northern Colombia as well as a world-renowned tourist destination. With its long coastline, azure waters, and golden beaches, the city offers stunning seaside scenery, making it a popular spot for tourism, summer retreats, and conferences. Surrounded by water on three sides, the picturesque city is covered in lush greenery. Ancient castles and church spires blend harmoniously with rows of modern high-rise buildings in creamy white and light blue, creating a beautiful contrast. Most of the city’s architecture was built between the 17th and 19th centuries, featuring two- to three-story buildings in Spanish colonial style. Though modest in height, they exude timeless elegance.
