Introduction

Brasília Cathedral is located in Brasília. This cathedral is vastly different from traditional European churches, featuring a unique umbrella-like design that resembles both the round hat of the Pope and an indigenous hut. It lacks the typical high spire; instead, 16 parabolic pillars support the dome of the church, with large pieces of colored glass connecting the pillars, giving it the appearance of a crown from afar. The main body of the church is situated underground, and visitors access it via a passageway.

Most European churches are adorned with various reliefs on the exterior, and their interiors are dim and gloomy, creating a mysterious and solemn atmosphere. In contrast, Brasília Cathedral breaks with tradition—its exterior has clean, simple lines, while the interior is bright and spacious, embodying a modern feel. The crown is surrounded by pools of water, and when sunlight shines on the water, the ripples reflect off the stained glass windows inside the church, creating a flickering light that gives the space an intriguing and enchanting ambiance.
