Three Powers Plaza is an open-air square located in Brasília, the capital of Brazil. Its name originates from the three branches of the Brazilian national government: the executive, legislative, and judicial powers. The buildings that symbolize these three powers are situated around the plaza — they are the Presidential Palace representing the executive power, the National Congress representing the legislative power, and the Federal Supreme Court representing the judicial power. Three Powers Plaza is known as the nerve center of Brazil.

There aren’t many historical relics to be seen at Three Powers Plaza, but the surrounding architectural designs are bold in concept, elegant in line, and light in form. Each building carries a different symbolic meaning. In front of the Presidential Palace stands a bronze statue of two capital pioneers holding spears side by side, symbolizing the unity of the Brazilian people in defending their homeland. The straight, seated statue in front of the Supreme Court symbolizes that the court will administer justice impartially and protect the rights of the people.

During the day, many visitors come here to explore. The plaza is filled with peace doves, which visitors can feed. Often, many of the doves land on the shoulders of visitors, seemingly welcoming them from afar. At night, when special lighting reflects off these white buildings, it creates the illusion that the structures are swirling, a sight that truly surprises many.
