The Pas

The Pas is a town in the Canadian province of Manitoba, located northwest of Winnipeg and near the border with Saskatchewan. As the oldest and most prominent settlement in northern Manitoba, it serves as a hub for mining, fishing, and forestry industries and is known as the “Gateway to the North.”

The Pas is a city that showcases unique charm in every season, distinguished by its one-of-a-kind entertainment options and diverse cultural attractions. Festivals here include the Manitoba Winter Fair and India Day. The Sam Waller Museum is dedicated to preserving the history and heritage of northern Manitoba, featuring exhibits on First Nations, the fur trade, mining, and transportation. Other attractions include the National Exhibition Centre, the Precambrian Cultural Centre, St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Eskimo Museum, and the Northern Heritage Museum.

The town hosts the Northern Manitoba Trappers’ Festival, which began in 1916 and is the oldest festival in Manitoba.
