The most famous tourist destination in Thompson is the Thompson Zoo, established in 1978. Though not very large, it is the only animal sanctuary in northern Manitoba and is home to over 100 animals. Pisew Falls, located in Pisew Falls Provincial Park south of the city, is the second-largest waterfall in Manitoba and boasts impressive grandeur, making it a must-visit.
