Churchill is a town in Manitoba, Canada, located on the shores of Hudson Bay at the mouth of the Churchill River. It is renowned for the polar bears that migrate from the inland to the coast every autumn, earning it the title "Polar Bear Capital of the World" and boosting local tourism.

Like other northern regions of Canada, Churchill also offers stunning displays of the Northern Lights, making aurora viewing an essential activity for visitors. Situated at the junction of three major biomes—the ocean, boreal forest, and tundra—it boasts rich biodiversity, attracting 10,000 to 12,000 ecotourists annually, including over 500 birdwatchers. Since the 1980s, it has become one of the best places in the world to observe migrating polar bears. Visitors can take tundra buggy tours to see these playful bears as they frolic in the snow, interact with each other, or swim in the water.

Every July and August, thousands of beluga whales gather in the vast waters near Churchill, making it a top destination in Canada for beluga whale watching. Additionally, it is a prime birdwatching spot, with the best season running from May to August when over 270 bird species can be spotted.
