Panfilov Park of 28 Guardsmen

Attraction Introduction

Located on Gogol Street in Almaty, the park covers an area of 18 hectares. It features lush greenery, beautiful scenery, and landmarks such as the Eternal Flame, the Glory Memorial, and the Officers’ House. The park was established in the 1970s to commemorate the 28 brave soldiers of the 1075th Regiment of the 316th Panfilov Guards Infantry Division of the former Soviet Army who heroically repelled the German fascist tank offensive during the Battle of Moscow (10 of whom were from Almaty).

After that battle, all 28 soldiers were posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. The park is one of the main sites for local people to receive patriotic education, honor the fallen, and enjoy leisure time during holidays.
