Astana

Astana is located on the semi-desert steppe in north-central Kazakhstan. It is an autonomous municipality of Kazakhstan and has been the capital of the Central Asian country since 1997. It is also the second-largest city in Kazakhstan, after Almaty. The city is known as the "Heart of Eurasia" and is one of the youngest capitals in the world, as well as the most modernized city in Central Asia.

Astana enjoys a pleasant climate all year round and boasts a good ecological environment. The beautiful Esil River flows through the city. As a rapidly developing capital, it has attracted worldwide attention. The city is filled with flower beds, lawns, mini parks, and urban squares, and features a uniquely stunning architectural complex that includes both European-style and Islamic-style buildings, rivaling major cities in Europe. Astana is home to the world’s largest tent — Khan Shatyr, which stands 150 meters tall and houses an artificial beach, waterfalls, a mini golf course, and a botanical garden. The Bayterek Observation Tower is the city’s most iconic landmark. This memorial and observation tower is an important tourist attraction and a symbol of Astana.
