Introduction The Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque, located near the Yayasan Shopping Mall, is a symbol of Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei, and one of the most beautiful mosques in Southeast Asia. This iconic building can be seen on the way from the airport to the city center. The mosque was completed in 1958 and named after Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien to commemorate his achievements during the first 17 years of the nation’s founding. The materials used are of the highest quality — marble imported from Italy, granite from China, stained glass and chandeliers from England, and carpets from Belgium and Saudi Arabia. The entire structure is grand and solemn, with its massive golden dome and ornate milky-white minarets exuding majesty. It can accommodate up to a thousand worshippers and stands as a worthy hub of Islamic culture. The mosque is surrounded by a tranquil lake with mirror-like waters. A stone replica of a traditional Bruneian royal boat floats on the water, complemented by lush greenery, creating a picturesque natural scene.
