Baba Nyonya & Peranakan Museum
Introduction
The Baba Nyonya are Chinese who migrated to Malaysia hundreds of years ago and developed a unique culture distinct from later Chinese immigrants. This private museum offers a glimpse into that heritage. The building was originally a private residence of the Chan family, and the furniture in the rooms was all imported from China or Europe over 100 years ago. The second floor displays traditional Chinese wedding attire. From the outside, this museum looks no different from an ordinary residential home, so keep an eye out when looking for it.
