The Sultan’s Palace of the Malacca Sultanate, also known as the Malacca Cultural Museum, is located at the foot of St. Paul’s Hill, overlooking the Malacca River. The palace boasts a majestic presence and features an elegant, classic architectural style, making it one of the most outstanding examples reflecting Malaysia’s glorious history. Its structure and form are based on traditional designs described in the 15th-century Malay Annals, with pavilions, fountains, flowers, and tropical plants adorning the exterior; the interior is adorned with intricately carved beams and painted rafters, shining in resplendent glory.

The Sultan’s Palace of the Malacca Sultanate is built in the traditional Malay wooden architectural style, with three stories high, and features exquisitely detailed carvings on every beam and rafter. Now functioning as a cultural museum open to the public, it displays everyday items used in the palace. The museum houses a collection of 1,350 antique items from the Malacca Sultanate period, including utensils, jewelry, musical instruments, clothing, weapons, and handicrafts, as well as exhibits showcasing the lifestyles and cultures of various ethnic groups at the time.

In addition to introducing the history and culture of Malacca and the Sultan’s Palace, the museum also features clothing, weapons, stone inscriptions, musical instruments, artworks, and photographs from various parts of Malaysia. The museum offers visitors an in-depth understanding of Malay culture from ancient times to the present, as well as insight into the glorious history of Malacca.
