The Malacca Maritime Museum is built based on a real Portuguese large ocean-going ship, and its shipshape exterior immediately captures visitors' attention. As the ship’s cabin houses many priceless treasures of Malacca, the maritime museum is regarded as one of the most important symbols of Malacca’s heritage.

The moment you step into the maritime museum, you will be deeply impressed. Under the soft lighting are spiral staircases, and descending them reveals models depicting early trade scenes at the Malacca port involving merchants from Arabia, India, and China. Porcelain, silk, woven goods, and spices were among the commodities brought to Malacca by merchants from various regions. The museum also houses a large number of ancient sailing ship models, photos, textual descriptions, maps, nautical equipment, cannons, coins, silver ingots, telescopes, lamps, and similar items. In addition, there are exhibits featuring ship models, statues of figures, the daily life of ordinary fishermen, as well as navigational tools, sea charts, and marine fish.

In addition to showcasing Malacca’s maritime history, the museum's display cases also exhibit items left behind from various periods of Malacca, allowing visitors to experience firsthand the changes in Malacca’s history. Key exhibits include flags, statues, and illustrations from different historical eras, providing further insight and understanding of Malacca’s culture during those times.
