Nong Nooch Tropical Garden is a private botanical park founded by Mr. Wang Lee, a Thai-Chinese businessman and one of Thailand’s top ten wealthiest individuals. Located near Pattaya, a popular tourist destination in Thailand, the garden spans over 1,600 acres and is a leisure and resort park designed in traditional Thai countryside style. It opened to the public in 1980.

The garden houses a collection of rare and exotic plants from around the world, but mainly features species from Southeast Asia, tropical America, and Central African cycads. Lush trees, vibrant flowers, melodious birdsong, pavilions, and picturesque scenery create a scene straight out of a painting. Whether you’re visiting the cultivation areas to see these unique plants or enjoying the carefully curated performances arranged by the park, there’s plenty of enjoyment to be had. The main activities at Nong Nooch include traditional Thai cultural performances, elephant shows, and exploring the botanical gardens. The cultural performances are authentic and rustic, featuring villagers showcasing Thailand’s rich folk heritage. The elephants, adorable and endlessly entertaining, put on spectacular shows that always draw loud applause from visitors.

The most captivating is the ordination ceremony, reflecting Thai customs. Elephant Show Arena: Watch elephants ride bicycles, play soccer, give elephant foot massages, and more. The games between elephants and humans draw excited crowds, though the elephants are strictly business — after each trick, they lift their trunks toward the audience to ask for bananas (which you have to pay for).
