Kings Domain

Introduction There are several parks on both the north and south sides of the Yarra River. On the north side are the Melbourne Cricket Ground and Yarra Park, which features soccer and rugby fields, Flinders Park, as well as Olympic Park, which contains the venues and swimming pools from the 1956 Olympics. Currently, there is a large entertainment center built in 1983, and plans are underway to include within it a conference venue, cinema, nightclub, disco, casino, restaurants, shops, and more. Therefore, the 57-meter-high pyramid-shaped center is set to become a new Melbourne landmark in the near future. On the south side of the Yarra River lies Kings Domain. This area was once farmland, a brickyard, a garbage dump, and a slum, but after many transformations, it took on its current beautiful appearance by 1930. The expansive park is divided into areas such as Alexandra Gardens, Queen Victoria Garden, Sydney Myer Music Bowl, and Victoria Government House.
