Pingxing Pass

Highlights: This site is famous for the shocking Pingxing Pass Battle. On September 25, 1937, Japan’s most elite Itagaki Division was ambushed by the 115th Division of the Eighth Route Army (commander—). After six hours of fierce fighting, over 100 Japanese soldiers were killed, and more than 100 vehicles along with a large amount of military supplies were destroyed or captured. Pingxing Pass is the site of the first major victory of our Party and Army in the War of Resistance Against Japan, and serves as a military museum of great natural and historical significance for patriotic and revolutionary tradition education.

: Pingxing Pass is a gateway of the Inner Great Wall, located southwest of Lingqiu County, and was built in the sixth year of the Zhengde era of the Ming Dynasty (1511 AD). The Pingxing Pass fortress sits atop Pingxing Ridge like a crouching tiger, forming a square shape with a perimeter of over nine hundred zhang, featuring one gate on the north and one on the south, with the inscription “Pingxing Ridge” engraved on the gate lintels—truly a formidable pass in the lofty mountains.
