The Heshuo Golden Beach Tourist Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Heshuo Golden Beach Tourist Area is located in the northern part of the Yanqi Basin, in Heshuo County, Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang, on the northeastern shore of China’s largest inland freshwater lake — Bosten Lake. It lies 369 kilometers from Urumqi and is one of the well-known scenic spots within the “Five Zones and Three Routes” tourism development strategy of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It is a newly opened summer resort in Xinjiang. The bathing beach features golden fine sand, hence the name “Golden Beach.” The lake water is crystal clear, and gulls gather in flocks, earning it the nickname “Hawaii of Xinjiang.”

Upon arriving here, you will be amazed by the wonders of nature. Amidst the rugged and majestic Gobi Desert, golden beaches stretching for dozens of kilometers are seamlessly connected to the azure lake water, exuding a tender beauty. The contrast between strength and softness is perfectly harmonious. In the evening, as the golden hues of the setting sun cast their glow and flocks of birds return to their nests, the scene slowly fades into the horizon where water meets sand, stirring the imagination and inspiring a myriad of beautiful thoughts.

Traveling 23 kilometers south from Wusitara Township will bring you to the West Sea Beach — Golden Beach. At first glance, the vast lake stretches as far as the eye can see, blending seamlessly with the sky. The fine, even, and soft silver sand, together with the lake’s gentle slope of 1.7% and a 2,000-meter-long, 60-meter-wide sandy beach, provides a natural swimming and water-play area. Taking a boat out onto the lake, you can look north to see towering mountains capped with ice and snow, or gaze south at undulating sand dunes where sand and water coexist in mysterious harmony. The tranquil blue waters are dotted with fishing boats, creating a scene of serene blue tenderness. Sunshine, sandy beach, and waves are truly a marvel of the West Sea. Not far away lie many stretches of green reed marshes with rippling fields, serving as a paradise for waterfowl. The reeds are crisscrossed with winding waterways, the green waves resembling clouds, while birds dart about and sing — a true ink painting of “green grass along the lake with egrets in flight.” Currently, the Golden Beach Club’s Malan Resort has been opened to visitors.

Climate: Heshuo County is situated on a fan-shaped alluvial plain surrounded by mountains on three sides. Due to the shielding effect of these mountains, the average annual wind speed is not high. Coupled with the climate regulation provided by the evaporation of Bosten Lake, which covers 1,107 square kilometers, most areas enjoy a mild and moist climate. The annual average sunshine duration is 3,166 hours, and the weather is mostly sunny and windless throughout the four seasons, making it very suitable for tourism.

In 1999, a comrade from the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region inspected and guided the development and construction of the Golden Beach Tourist Area. Captivated by the area’s beautiful natural scenery, he joyfully inscribed the words: “The Golden Beach, a Pearl of the West.”
