Altun Mountain International Hunting Ground

The Qiemo Hunting Ground is located between Tatilekusu and Jianggalsey in the northern foothills of the Altun Mountains, about 150 kilometers from the county seat. With an average altitude of around 3,000 meters and covering an area of 100 square kilometers, the area features steep mountains and severe erosion. It is home to over twenty species of rare wildlife, including Tibetan antelope, wild ass, wild yak, Przewalski's gazelle, and goitered gazelle, as well as snowcock, snow leopard, and brown bear. The mountainous desert vegetation includes plants such as wormwood, ephedra, and needlegrass. The river valley areas grow reeds, cattails, feather grass, and tamarisk. On April 26, 1993, the National Forestry Department officially approved the establishment of the Qiemo Hunting Ground within the Altun Mountain Hunting Zone. The hunting ground is open to both domestic and international visitors, and hunters can enter after completing the required procedures. Mr. Valentin from Spain was the first hunter at the hunting ground. On September 17, 1993, he successfully hunted one Tibetan antelope and one Tarim red deer.
