Sourced from the Tatelikusu jade mining area in Qiemo County, Xinjiang, situated at 4,000 meters above sea level on the northern slopes of the Kunlun Mountains, this massive piece stands 1.145 meters tall, 0.99 meters wide, 1.13 meters thick, and weighs 1,502 kilograms. Its texture is delicate, its surface smooth, and its color pure. It was discovered in August 1995 when jade miners in Qiemo, after decades of tracing jade veins through layers of stubborn stone and advancing hundreds of meters into the mountain, finally reached its hidden resting place—undaunted and unwavering in their pursuit. To transport it back to Qiemo, workers specially built a 21-kilometer mountain road, and it took 73 people 98 grueling days to bring it down. On October 1, 1996, it was collected and displayed in the lobby of the Muztagge Hotel.
