Divine Bell Mountain

Divine Bell Mountain is located approximately 40 kilometers upstream from Fuyun County along the Irtysh River. On both sides of the Irtysh River stand two bell-shaped giant rocks, about 1,000 meters high. The rocks are covered with birch trees, green pines, and Siberian spruces, and also dotted with moss. After the rain clears, white clouds drift around the peaks, and rainbows arc across the sky, creating an exceptionally spectacular view. Divine Bell Mountain

Regarding the formation of the bell-shaped giant rocks, there is a beautiful local legend among the Kazakh people. It is said that Amirsana and her brother Hongtaiji had a conflict over their father’s throne and led their armies into battle against each other. Amirsana held her position atop the bell-shaped rock on the southern bank of the Irtysh River, while Hongtaiji defended the mountaintop on the northern bank. Neither side would yield, and after several days of fighting, both perished. To commemorate the siblings, later generations named the two giant rocks “Amirsana” and “Hongtaiji.”
