Former Residence of Bo Yibo

The former residence of Bo Yibo is a cultural relic protection unit of Shanxi Province.

The former residence of Bo Yibo is located in Jiangcun Village, Jiangcun Township, Dingxiang County. Bo Yibo (1908–2007), originally named Bo Shucun, joined the Communist Party of China in 1925. He changed his name to Bo Yibo in 1929. He was a member of the 7th, 8th, and 11th Central Committees of the Communist Party of China, an alternate member of the 8th Politburo, and the Executive Deputy Director of the CPC Central Advisory Commission. He also served as Vice Chairman of the National Financial and Economic Commission, Minister of Finance, Director of the Construction Commission, Director of the State Economic Commission, and Vice Premier of the State Council, among other positions. The former residence was where Bo Yibo lived during his youth and adolescence. It faces south and is a single-courtyard quadrangle, covering an area of approximately 280 square meters. Originally built in the 34th year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1908), it was renovated in 1996 by the local cultural relics department. Sixteen rooms remain, all in relatively good condition. It is a typical small quadrangle courtyard house in rural northern Shanxi, featuring one stone mill and one jujube tree in the yard. In June 2007, it was designated as a municipal-level key cultural relic protection unit by the People’s Government of Xinzhou City. Bo Yibo (1908–2007), originally named Bo Shucun, was from Jiangcun Village, Dingxiang County, Shanxi Province. He joined the Communist Party in 1925 and was involved in military operations in Shanxi, Tianjin, and other areas, during which he was imprisoned three times. Starting in 1946, he took on leadership roles within the military. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, he held positions such as First Secretary of the North China Bureau, Political Commissar of the Military Region, Minister of Finance, Director of the Third Office of the State Council, Director of the State Construction Commission, and Director of the State Economic Commission.
