Rock paintings in the cave at Meiyinkou West Gully

The rock paintings in the cave at Meiyinkou West Gully are located 1,000 meters east of Meiyinkou Village, Nanwang Township, Dingxiang County. The cave faces west and is a natural karst cave. It is situated approximately 21 meters above the bottom of the gully. The cave entrance is about 5 meters high, 3.5 meters wide, and 7 meters deep. There are three rock paintings on the top of the cave entrance and on the south wall inside the cave. The paintings are red, resembling cloud-like patterns, rendered in simple and smooth brushstrokes. The total area of the paintings is approximately 2.8 square meters. The cultural layer inside the cave is about 0.15–0.2 meters thick, and artifacts such as iron scrapers, animal bones, and fragmented stone tools have been collected from it.

Meiyinkou Village: Meiyinkou Village is located in the southern part of Nanwang Township, Dingxiang County, approximately 8 kilometers from the county seat. The village has 45 households, a population of 119, and 47 laborers, with 336 mu of arable land, situated in a hilly area. The main source of income in Meiyinkou Village is agriculture, primarily corn cultivation. Thanks to its favorable conditions, there are two stone processing enterprises in the village. The valley to the east of the village, known as “West Gully,” features uniquely shaped mountains and year-round flowing streams, making it a natural landscape ripe for development.
