Cliff Inscriptions on Jushi Mountain

The Cliff Inscriptions on Jushi Mountain are a cultural relic protection unit of Xinzhou City.

The Cliff Inscriptions on Jushi Mountain are located on the northern mountainside of Yaotou Village, Nanwang Township, Dingxiang County. Carved into the limestone cliff face halfway up the mountain in clerical script, the inscriptions stand 3 meters tall and 1.33 meters wide. Much of the text has faded and become illegible over time. According to the supplementary gazetteer of Dingxiang County from the Guangxu era of the Qing Dynasty, the inscriptions were created in the fourth year of the Wuding reign during the Wei Dynasty (546). In 2007, the People's Government of Xinzhou City announced them as a municipal-level cultural heritage site.

Yaotou Village: Yaotou Village (a village under the jurisdiction of Nanwang Township, Dingxiang County, Shanxi Province) is situated in the mountainous southern part of Nanwang Township, approximately 15 kilometers from the county seat. The village has 56 farming households, a population of 89, 25 laborers, and 7 Party members. It covers 605 mu of arable land and 655 mu of reclaimed forestland. The local economy mainly relies on agriculture and animal husbandry. The village boasts several notable scenic spots, including the Wang Wei Study Site on Jushi Mountain, the Kuixing Pavilion on Laosong Terrace, cliff inscriptions, and various natural mountain landscapes, all of which are excellent tourism resources.
