Xu Zhanyuan’s Residence

Xu Zhanyuan’s Residence is situated in Yanxuzhuang Village, Jizhuang Township, Dingxiang County. It faces south with a north orientation, spans 19.1 meters from east to west and 40.7 meters from north to south, covering a total area of 777 square meters. The building dates from the Qing Dynasty. It has a one-courtyard, two-section layout and is constructed with brick and concrete. The front courtyard has five main rooms, three rooms each on the east and west sides, five southern rooms, and a three-bay wide front gate, with a small side door on the left and a hitching post erected in front. The rear courtyard includes a hanging-hip roof ceremonial gate, three main rooms, two wing rooms, and three rooms each on the east and west sides. Except for the east and west rooms, southern rooms, and the main gate in the front courtyard, which were restored in 2007, all other structures are original. This building served as the residence of Xu Zhanyuan, who was awarded the title of "Flying Cavalry Officer" in the 14th year of the Jiaqing reign (1809), and is one of the better-preserved Qing Dynasty residential buildings in the area.
