Liunian Grand Temple

Liunian Grand Temple is a cultural heritage site protected by Dingxiang County.

Liunian Grand Temple is located in Liunian Village, Hongdao Town, Dingxiang County. It faces south with its back to the north, stretching approximately 43 meters from east to west and about 55 meters from north to south, covering an area of around 2,365 square meters. The exact date of its construction is unknown. It underwent renovations in the seventh year of the Tianshun era during the Ming Dynasty (1463) and the 35th year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1770), and its current structure dates to the Qing Dynasty. The temple has a single-courtyard layout, with structures arranged along the central axis including a front hall and a main hall, flanked by side halls on the east and west. In the southwest corner, there is a theater stage. The existing main hall features twisted and deformed beams, a width of three bays, a depth of four rafters, and a five-rafter structure, with a single-eave hanging gable roof, and three-step single-rising bracket sets. The front eaves columns are round, and the rear eaves columns are square, with wooden brackets above. The side halls also have square columns and wooden brackets. The floor is paved with bluestone slabs. The hall covers an area of over 60 square meters. The theater stage is three bays wide and six rafters deep, with a single-eave rolled-canopy roof. Inside the temple, there are two stone steles: one commemorating the renovation of the Buddha Hall in the 24th year of the Daoguang era of the Qing Dynasty (1844) and another for the renovation of the Zhenrong Temple and Dragon King Temple in the 8th year of the Tongzhi era (1869).
