Koucun Stage

The Koucun Stage is a cultural relic protection unit of Xinzhou City.

The Koucun Stage is located in Koucun Village, Nanwang Township, Dingxiang County. It faces north and measures 12.5 meters in east-west length and 13.1 meters in north-south width, covering an area of approximately 164 square meters. According to inscriptions on the beams, it was built in the 18th year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty (1838). The main structure of the stage is relatively well-preserved, though the roof ridge and animal ornaments are damaged. The overall structure remains fairly stable. The stage sits on a stone foundation that is 12.5 meters wide, 13.1 meters deep, and 0.8 meters high. It features a three-bay-wide facade and a five-rafter depth, with a single-eave hanging hip roof and a six-rafter structural system. Koucun Village: Located in the southwestern part of Dingxiang County, Koucun Village borders Dongcun Township of Xinfu District. The village maintains an annual vegetable and melon cultivation area of around 500 mu, involving 250 farming households and 280 agricultural workers, accounting for 70% of those engaged in farming. The produce is grown entirely without harmful chemicals, using organic fertilizer, and the watermelons are especially prized locally for their sweet, crisp, and sandy texture. During the summer harvest season, buyers from Xinfu District and elsewhere flock to the village for its renowned produce.
