Beishe East South Fortress

The gate of Beishe East South Fortress is located in Beishe East Village, Hongdao Town, Dingxiang County. The gate faces south and covers an area of approximately 193 square meters. According to the inscription on the plaque above the gate, it was built in the 41st year of the Wanli era during the Ming Dynasty (1613). The gate has a stone foundation, which is 1.1 meters high. The existing gate is a brick-arched structure, 14.1 meters wide, about 8 meters high, and 13.7 meters deep. A temple dedicated to the God of Wealth originally stood atop the gate but has since been destroyed. The gate is inscribed with the characters “Duyushi Mansion,” built after Li Nan from the village served as a Duyushi (imperial censor) during the Ming Dynasty.
