Zhao Village Site

The Zhao Village Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Dingxiang County.

The Zhao Village Site is situated about 500 meters southeast of Zhao Village in Nanwang Township, Dingxiang County. Located on a terrace on the eastern bank of the Muma River, it extends approximately 250 meters from east to west and about 200 meters from north to south, with a total area of around 50,000 square meters. A cultural layer has been found in the eastern part of the site, about 0.4 to 0.6 meters thick. On the surface and within this layer, gray pottery shards made of clay and sandy clay from the Warring States period have been collected, with identifiable shapes such as basins. In addition, one stone axe was also found. This site dates back to both the Neolithic and Warring States periods. In 1997, it was designated as a county-level cultural heritage protection unit by the People's Government of Dingxiang County. Content excerpted from ("A Collection of Cultural Relics in Xinzhou").

Zhao Village: Zhao Village is located in the northern part of Nanwang Township, facing Jinchang Town across the Muma River. It lies just 1 kilometer in a straight line from the Third Ring Road. The village has 347 farming households, a population of 1,060, 365 laborers, and 38 Party members. It covers 1,800 mu of arable land, all of which are flat plains. Zhao Village is well known for crafting high-quality winnowing baskets and large baskets. These products are woven from peeled willow branches through a distillation process. The edges and backs of the winnowing baskets are slightly inwardly curved, and the “tongue” features a rolled and open lip, making them easy and efficient to use.
