Xiataitou Site

The Xiataitou Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Dingxiang County.

The Xiataitou Site is located about 100 meters northeast of Xiataitou Village, Shoulu Township, Dingxiang County. Situated on a terrace north of the Fuyang River, it stretches approximately 400 meters from east to west and 375 meters from north to south, covering a total area of about 150,000 square meters. Exposed relics on the cliff face include ash pits, with a cultural layer thickness of 0.7–1.5 meters. Collected artifacts include fragments of sandy gray pottery and clayey gray pottery, with surfaces featuring plain textures and cord markings. Identifiable vessel shapes include jars, and the site is identified as a Neolithic Longshan Culture remnant. During the construction of the Shuohuang Railway in 1998, the Shanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology conducted excavations. In 1981, it was designated as a county-level cultural heritage protection unit by the Dingxiang County People's Government. Content excerpted from ("Xinzhou Cultural Relics Collection").

Xiataitou Village: Located north of the Sanyao Line, Xiataitou Village in Shoulu Township, Dingxiang County has a population of 166 households and 436 people, with 1,070 mu of arable land. The main sources of income for villagers are transportation and farming. Xiataitou Village is well known across the county as a specialized transportation village, owning a total of 42 large and medium-sized vehicles mainly engaged in coal transport, with an annual transport capacity of 300,000 tons and annual income reaching 3.8 million yuan. Farming mainly involves corn and coarse grains. In 2009, the corn planting area reached 700 mu, with 100 mu dedicated to Zhang hybrid millet, generating agricultural income of 1.09 million yuan.
