Puzhao Temple in Daixian

Puzhao Temple in Daixian is a cultural heritage site protected by the Daixian government.

Puzhao Temple is located east of Zhengxiarshe Village, Eko Town, Daixian. According to an inscribed stone lantern tower from the Yuan Dynasty and plaques inside the main hall, the temple was built in the fourth year of the Zhi Shun era (1333), renovated in the fourth year of the Zhi Zheng era (1344), rebuilt in the tenth year of the Hongzhi era of the Ming Dynasty (1497), and restored again in the fifty-seventh year of the Qianlong era of the Qing Dynasty (1792). The existing structure is from the Qing Dynasty. It faces south and covers an area of 3,133 square meters. The layout consists of two courtyards along a central axis, featuring, in sequence, the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Mahavira Hall, with East and West Side Rooms and East and West Side Halls on both sides; the rest were newly constructed. The Mahavira Hall sits on a stone foundation, which is 12.1 meters wide, 10.3 meters deep, and 0.15 meters high. The hall has three bays in width and four rafters in depth, with a single-eave hanging gable roof, a five-rafter non-veranda structure, and front eaves featuring four-paneled latticed doors on the central and side bays. The temple preserves one Yuan Dynasty stone lantern tower, four Ming Dynasty renovation steles, and four Qing Dynasty renovation and merit steles.
