Miaojue Temple in Dai County

Miaojue Temple is a cultural heritage site protected by Dai County.

Miaojue Temple is located in Dongguan Village, Shangguan Town, Dai County. According to an inscription on a temple bell, it was built during the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty (1522–1566) and underwent multiple renovations during the Qing Dynasty and the Republican period. The temple faces west and covers an area of 669 square meters. Currently, only the Mahavira Hall is a remnant from the Ming Dynasty, with the rest being newly constructed. The Mahavira Hall features a stone base that is 11.4 meters wide, 9 meters deep, and 1.2 meters high. The hall has three bays in width and five rafters in depth, with a single-eave hanging gable roof. It adopts a six-rafter front-and-rear corridor structure, and the front eaves of the central and side bays are fitted with four-panel six-paneled lattice doors. The temple also houses one iron bell from the Ming Dynasty. In 1984, the People’s Government of Dai County designated it as a county-level cultural heritage site.
