The Foutu Pagoda in Dai County

The Foutu Pagoda in Dai County is a cultural relic protection unit of Shanxi Province.

The Foutu Pagoda, also known as the Brick Pagoda of Hongji Temple, is located about 500 meters north of Dongruoyuan Village, Shangmofang Township, Dai County. Its date of construction is unknown. Originally part of Hongji Temple, the temple has since been destroyed, leaving only the pagoda, which exhibits architectural features of the Song Dynasty.

It faces south and covers an area of 5.85 square meters. This hexagonal single-story brick pagoda stands 4 meters tall. The base is hexagonal, with the bottom edge measuring 1.5 meters. The pagoda sits on a Sumeru pedestal with a waist-binding design. The body of the pagoda curves slightly inward on all six sides. The north and south sides feature carved plank doors, while the other four sides are adorned with diamond-patterned windows. The overlapping layers form a lotus-petal-style eave, which supports a Sumeru-shaped finial base. The upper finial of the pagoda has been destroyed. In 2004, it was designated as a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit by the People's Government of Shanxi Province. (Source: "A Collection of Cultural Relics from Xinzhou")
