Foguang Village Foguang Temple

Foguang Village Foguang Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Dai County.

Foguang Village Foguang Temple is located southwest of Foguang Village, E Kou Town, Dai County. According to the Dai County Annals and inscriptions within the temple, it was built during the Dazhong era of the Tang Dynasty (847–860), renovated during the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty (1573–1620), and underwent multiple repairs in the 47th year of the Kangxi reign (1708), the 19th year of the Qianlong reign (1754), and the 1st year of the Jiaqing reign (1796). It faces south and covers an area of 3,532 square meters. The temple features a two-courtyard layout, with structures along the central axis including the Mountain Gate, the Heavenly King Hall, and the Mahavira Hall, flanked by side halls on the east and west. The existing buildings date to the Qing Dynasty, while the rest are newly constructed. The Mahavira Hall stands on a stone base that is 13.75 meters wide, 13.8 meters deep, and 0.15 meters high. The hall has three bays in width and six rafters in depth, with a single-eave hanging hip roof and a seven-rafter front-and-rear corridor structure. The front eaves have six-panel lattice doors on the central and side bays. The temple houses one Tang Dynasty stone pagoda lantern and six Qing Dynasty steles commemorating renovations and donations.
