Dai County Chenghuang Temple

The Dai County Chenghuang Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Dai County.

The Chenghuang Temple is located on Chenghuangmiao Street in Xibei Street Village, Shangguan Town, Dai County. According to the Guangxu-era Daizhou Annals from the Qing Dynasty, it was built during the Ming Dynasty and renovated in the seventh year of the Shunzhi reign (1650) during the Qing Dynasty. Facing south and covering an area of 3,337 square meters, it features a two-courtyard layout. Along the central axis are the mountain gate and rear hall, flanked by side halls on the east and west. What remains today are structures from the Qing Dynasty. The rear hall sits on a brick platform, which is 18 meters wide, 10.8 meters deep, and 0.6 meters high. The hall has five bays in width and six rafters in depth, with a single-eave hanging hip roof and a seven-purlin, corridor-less structural style. The front eaves of the central and side bays feature four-panel lattice doors with six panels each, while the smaller side bays have four-panel lattice windows with four panels each. One Qing Dynasty restoration stele is preserved inside the temple. In 1984, the People’s Government of Dai County designated it as a county-level cultural relic protection unit.
