Yuwen Fortress Site

The Yuwen Fortress Site is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Shanxi Province.

The Yuwen Fortress site is located northeast of Yuwen Village, Yangmingbao Town, Dai County. Its overall layout remains unclear. Sections of the eastern and northern walls are intermittently preserved, with the eastern wall measuring 48 meters in remaining length and the northern wall 20 meters, covering an area of 173 square meters. The base width ranges from 1.6 to 3.5 meters, the top width from 0.4 to 1.8 meters, and the remaining height from 0.6 to 6.1 meters. The walls were constructed using rammed earth, with rammed layers ranging from 0.14 to 0.22 meters in thickness and containing a relatively high proportion of pebbles. The exact period of construction is unknown. It is one of the thirty-nine fortresses and twelve connected cities within the county.
