Site of Yonghe Fort

The Site of Yonghe Fort is a cultural relic protection unit of Shanxi Province.

The Site of Yonghe Fort is located in Xima Village, Zaolin Town, Dai County. The remaining structure is square-shaped, approximately 150 meters from east to west and 150 meters from north to south, covering a total area of about 22,500 square meters. The walls on the east, west, and north sides are intermittently preserved, with base widths ranging from 0.6 to 3.8 meters, top widths between 0.4 and 2.6 meters, and remaining heights of 2.1 to 6.2 meters. The walls were built using rammed earth, with layers 0.08 to 0.17 meters thick, containing interspersed gravel. One eastern gate and one corner tower remain. The stone plaque above the eastern gate is inscribed with the date “the 22nd year of the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1543),” indicating it is a Ming Dynasty relic. It is one of the thirty-nine forts and twelve connected cities within the county.
