Site of Taihelikou

The Site of Taihelikou is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Site of Taihelikou is located east of Taihelikou Village, Yanmenguan Township, Dai County. It spans approximately 200 meters from east to west and 400 meters from north to south, covering a total area of about 80,000 square meters. The site is situated on a terrace on the eastern bank of the Qili River, with higher terrain in the north and lower in the south, distributed in a terraced pattern, and bordered by gullies on the east and north sides. The cultural layer is 0.3–0.6 meters thick. Artifacts collected include gray pottery shards with sand inclusions from the Xia Dynasty, decorated with rope patterns and applied band patterns, with identifiable shapes including... small... and... From the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, there are gray clay pottery shards, decorated with rope patterns, string patterns, or left plain, with identifiable shapes such as pots, basins, dou (food vessels), and lids. Taihelikou Village: Taihelikou Village is located at the southern foot of the Yanmen Mountain Range and at the base of Taihelikou. It is an administrative village under Yanmenguan Township, Dai County. Historically, this was the southern entrance and a post station along the ancient Yanmen Road, serving as a vital route to the frontier and other ethnic minority regions. It has long been a strategic military location, a fact underscored by its geography. According to relevant sources, Taihelikou is 13 kilometers north of Yanmen Pass and only 3 kilometers from the Monument to the Eighth Route Army's Ambush at Yanmen Pass.
