Chitu Gou Fort

Chitu Gou Fort is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Shanxi Province.

Chitu Gou Fort, located in Chitu Gou Village, Shangmofang Township, Dai County. It has a rectangular layout, measuring 55 meters east-west and 65 meters north-south, covering a total area of 3,575 square meters. The walls on all four sides are intermittently preserved: the east wall is 65 meters long, the south wall 25 meters, the west wall 10 meters, and the north wall 46 meters. The base width is between 1.2 to 2.1 meters, the top width 0.3 to 1.2 meters, and the remaining height 1.6 to 3.6 meters. The walls were built using rammed earth, with layers approximately 0.1 to 0.16 meters thick. It is a relic from the Ming Dynasty and one of the thirty-nine forts and twelve connected cities within the county. Chitu Gou Village: Chitu Gou Village is located in Mofang Township, Dai County, Xinzhou City, Shanxi Province, neighboring Fengjialing Village and Hongniwan Village. The village boasts abundant resources and is known for its scenic beauty with clear skies and clean water. Major agricultural products include yam, South American pear, and leafy vegetables. The village is also home to several enterprises, primarily including a woodworking factory, agricultural machinery repair factory, steel plant, and silk cotton factory. Additionally, the area contains rich mineral resources such as mirabilite, chromite, and vesuvianite.
