Xiangtang Temple Grottoes

Xiangtang Temple Grottoes is a cultural tourism attraction.

Located on Miaoling Mountain, five kilometers southwest of Yushe County. The grottoes were carved into the mountainside from the Northern Wei to the Tang Dynasty, with temples built in conjunction with the statues, forming a monastery that was later renovated during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The temple buildings no longer stand, but the Buddha statues remain, along with a section known as the Thousand Buddha Cave.

One cliff-carved statue remains today, standing 3.3 meters tall, with a round face, draped in a kasaya, translucent silk robes, seated in the lotus position, surrounded by exquisite floral patterns. The carving is finely detailed and the figure remarkably lifelike, making it a true masterpiece of Tang Dynasty stone sculpture.
