Zifu Temple

Zifu Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Located northwest of Haijingshan Reservoir in Yushe County

in Xiachiyu Village, 4 kilometers away, on a western earthen ridge, the temple stands against a mountain ridge with a small river in front. The earthen cliff is steep, about 15 meters high, and the temple is built on this perilous site, presenting a spectacular sight. The entire structure follows a traditional courtyard layout, with the main hall, the Mahavira Hall, being a three-bay building with a single-eave hip-and-gable roof and a depth of three bays. Constructed in the 10th year of the Zhiyuan era during the Yuan Dynasty, it is a typical example of Yuan Dynasty wooden architecture. The main wall features Water-Land Murals with smooth, powerful lines, subtle coloring, and considerable artistic value. Further down are the three-bay White Dragon Temple (facing south). To the south are the three-bay Bodhisattva Hall, flanked by a bell tower, a drum tower, and the mountain gate, all of which are Ming Dynasty structures. The overall layout of the buildings is rigorous and exquisitely compact.
