Lanping Ancient Tea Horse Road Scenic Area

The Lanping Ancient Tea Horse Road Scenic Area is located about 40 kilometers southeast of Simao City, covering an area of over 200 square kilometers. Within the area lies a stone-paved road, the Chaba Ancient Road, built along towering mountains and steep ridges.

It was an ancient tea and salt route in southern Yunnan (Pu'er tea and Mohai salt were both exported via this road) and also an important section of the Southern Silk Road. Judging from its construction style, which features a hard sandstone pavement, it closely resembles the Bonan Ancient Road in western Yunnan. The remaining sections of the Ancient Tea Horse Road are covered in mossy traces and shaded by the dense canopy of pristine forests.
