The temple’s founding date is unknown. It was rebuilt in the fourth year of the Xianping era of the Song Dynasty (1001), renovated in the third year of the Yanxing era of the Yuan Dynasty (1317), and refurbished again during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. Only the Scripture Depository Hall and the Rear Hall remain today. The Scripture Depository Hall is an early Northern Song structure, while the Rear Hall dates to the Qing Dynasty.

The Scripture Depository Hall faces south and measures three bays in both width and depth, with a nearly square floor plan. It features a single-eave hip-and-gable roof, covering a construction area of 139.24 square meters. The roof has a gentle slope and deep overhangs, with the column-top tie beam not extending beyond the corner columns. The bracket sets on the columns are arranged in a complex pattern. The columns are arranged densely, giving the hall a sense of stability. The wooden structure of the hall predominantly uses large wooden components. Inscriptions such as “...carving of flying apsaras...” can be found.
