Meibao Agricultural Sightseeing Park

Meibao Agricultural Sightseeing Park is one of the most harmonious and charming eco-economic and cultural leisure tourism areas in the hometown of Shanxi merchants — the Jin Taigu Leisure Tourism Area.

Taigu County boasts a long and rich cultural history and was historically famous as the “Golden Taigu,” “Little Beijing,” “Dry Port,” and “China’s Wall Street.” Meibao Ecological Park is nestled at the foot of Fengshan Mountain — a feng shui treasure land within the Jinx Taigu area — in Beiwang Township. It neighbors the Fruit Tree Research Institute of the Provincial Academy of Agricultural Sciences and a national agricultural tourism demonstration zone, and lies 12 kilometers from downtown Taigu. Located along the access route to the Nanshan Tourism Area, it is surrounded by tens of thousands of acres of orchards, offering a landscape where spring brings blooming flowers, autumn bears fruit, summer offers cool breezes, and winter brings snow. When free from worldly worries, you’ll find it truly the best time of year. The air here is filled with the fragrance of fruit, and the area enjoys its own microclimate, making it an ideal destination for leisure, summer retreats, and vacationing.

This ecological park was invested in and built by Guo Meiqin, Chairwoman of Meibao Group, in 2006. In just a few short years, it has completely transformed the former barren hills and overgrown slopes. After taking over, Chairwoman Guo invested substantial human, material, and financial resources to dig irrigation channels, build roads, level land, drill wells, install power lines, and plant trees. On average, the project provides employment for over 50 surplus rural laborers annually, with an average income of 15,000 yuan per person. With an investment of over 5.8 million yuan, the resort features “Five Courtyards” and “One Treasure”: the “Xi Character Courtyard,” “Treasure Gourd Courtyard,” “Flower Ping Courtyard,” “Ingot Courtyard,” and “Farmhouse Fun Courtyard,” with the treasure being the “Mountain Guardian Treasure — the Gourd.” It also developed “Five Wonders” and “One Exhibition”: the Early (Date) Holding Seed Tree, the Ape (Apricot) Tree, the Century-old Apricot Tree, the Millennium-old Locust Tree, and the Rare Animal Zoo. The exhibition showcases Agricultural Culture. There are also “Seven Gardens” and “One Battlefield”: the Vegetable Garden, Apple Orchard, Pear Orchard, Peach Orchard, Grape Orchard, Cherry Orchard, and Date Orchard; the battlefield is a Real-life CS Combat Base.

Spanning tens of thousands of acres of lush green orchards, boundless and vibrant, it is one of China’s rare four-season wellness destinations. Here you can fish, collect eggs from the grass, catch fish in murky waters, go shooting and fruit picking, soothe your liver and lungs, enjoy grains, sip wine for pleasure, cultivate your mind and character, take walks in the mountains, bathe in mountain streams, harvest fresh fruits, and enjoy leisure and summer retreats. With spring flowers and autumn fruits, mountains covered in red produce, crisp high skies, forest walks, cherry mountain fruits, and fresh wild vegetables, it is a leisure tourism sanctuary that blends natural ecology, rustic charm, vacationing, and hands-on harvesting.

The healthy development of Meibao Ecological Park reflects the correct vision of the Taigu County Party Committee and Government, and has received support and assistance from all sectors of society. Within the next three years, the ecological park plans to construct a new artificial lake, two experiential planting gardens, a small ornamental zoo, a star-rated farmhouse restaurant, and a practice base for primary and secondary school students. Production value is expected to double, providing employment for over 100 surplus rural workers with an additional income of 20,000 yuan per person. Its continuously expanding scale will establish it as a distinctive, standardized eco-leisure resort destination in Shanxi Province.
