The “China Folk Culture and Art Museum” is the first national-level folk culture and art museum in Shanxi, approved and established by the Chinese Folk Literature and Art Association. The museum covers an area of over 3,100 square meters. Its collections on display include porcelain, coins, furniture, calligraphy and paintings, costumes, snuff bottles, tea sets, wine sets, folk crafts, stone art, root carvings, and works from the three carving arts of stone, wood, and brick, spanning eleven cultural series. With nearly ten thousand items in total, the exhibits are dazzling and richly diverse. It vividly showcases the development trajectory of China’s folk culture and art over thousands of years. Many of the items possess high artistic and historical value, representing the cultural and artistic characteristics of different historical periods in China, making it a rare base for studying Chinese folk culture and art.

Chinese folk culture and art, throughout the millennia of world civilization, shines with the ethnic distinctiveness of Chinese civilization through its unique character and artistic style, serving as a banner of Chinese culture. The vast ocean that is Chinese folk culture and art is too extensive to be fully represented in this museum, yet every item on display is an invaluable vessel of Chinese culture. The China Folk Culture and Art Museum currently has several themed exhibition halls open to the public, including the Jin Merchant Museum, Folk Art Museum, Official System Culture Exhibition Hall, Excavated Relics from the Old City Exhibition Hall, and the Shanxi Mature Vinegar Production Exhibition Hall.

Transportation: Visitors from Taiyuan can take bus 901 from the railway station to the Yuci Old Town terminal stop, where the museum is located.
