The City Tower is situated at the center of the four main streets—east, west, north, and south—in the old town, and it is also the tallest building in the ancient city of Yuci.

A city tower refers to a building constructed within a marketplace, typically reflecting the prosperity of the market. The most famous surviving city tower is located on South Avenue in the county town of Pingyao. As Yuci was once a hub where merchants from Shanxi gathered, the city tower would have served a similar purpose. It is a newly built imitation ancient structure, located right at the center of the intersection of the four main streets in the ancient city of Yuci. It stands about five stories tall and is surrounded by various plaques (all replicas), making it quite magnificent when viewed from a distance. However, the Yuci City Tower is currently not open to the public for climbing and exists mainly as a scenic spot for distant viewing.
