Huangyanggou in Maolan

The Huangyanggou area is charmingly rustic and pristine. Here, springs trickle over rocks, trees grow amid the water, blending nature and water in perfect harmony, with lush branches and vines all around. When the water flow is gentle, you can wade through the forest in the water and explore up the stream along Crab Gully, fully immersing yourself in the wild and untamed experience — and this is when Huangyanggou is one of the most beautiful sights in Maolan, not to be missed. Originally, Huangyanggou had a relatively small and normal water flow, allowing for leisurely hikes along the creek. Due to heavy rain, however, the water became rapid, so we could only take a brief look where it was safe to get in the water. On sunny days, the creek water in Huangyanggou turns an even more striking emerald green. One can imagine that under normal conditions, the water here could rival that of Jiuzhaigou. A defining feature of Huangyanggou is the abundance of trees growing directly in the water.
