Tomb of Mou Haiqi

The Tomb of Mou Haiqi is a cultural relics protection unit of Xifeng County.

The Tomb of Mou Haiqi in Yongjing Town is located in Group 1, Zhongyi Village, Yonghong Village, Yongjing Town, Xifeng County. It was designated as a county-level cultural relics protection unit in 1984. Mou Haiqi was the son of Mou Wenshu, the Ming Dynasty General-in-Chief of Fengsi. For his military merits, Mou Haiqi was appointed to the position of defender. In the third year of the Chongzhen era of the Ming Dynasty (1631), he was ordered to replace his father in rebuilding Xifeng City and constructing the Wujiang Pass, assisting in the construction of the Fu Yong and Zhenxi garrisons, as well as the cities of Kaizhou and Guiyang. He was later appointed as the Chief Defender of the Xifeng Guard Garrison. When Li Zicheng captured Beijing, he was summoned to serve in the imperial guard and was promoted to colonel. After returning to Xifeng, he passed away at the age of 76. He was initially buried in Shangbahe, Yanglang, and was later reburied here in the 26th year of the Daoguang era (1846), where his grave was built and a tombstone erected. The tomb features an earthen mound enclosed by stone, taking a round mound shape, facing west and situated eastward. It is 1.5 meters high, 5 meters long, and 3 meters wide. The tombstone is tower-shaped and stands against the wall at the front of the grave, with the epitaph inscribed on the right side. It holds certain historical value for the study of Xifeng and the Water West Rebellion.
